This event was previously scheduled for January 28; rescheduled due to inclement weather.

10:00 am. Free!

Please join Jersey City Museum and artist Pollie Barden for the unveiling of her public artwork, "Bottled V.2." Conceived by artist Pollie Barden, the installation is made up of more than 2,000 discarded water bottles collected from school waste receptacles, the beachfront along the Hackensack and Hudson Rivers, city streets and neighborhood parks. Barden and Jersey City Museum worked with more than 1,000 students from the Learning Community Charter School, M.S. Number 4, P.S. Number 8, P.S. The Attic Ensemble Presents: The Pillowman

Tickets: $20 general admission; $15 senior citizens/students.

Martin McDonagh's award-winning - and remarkably dark - black comedy is a spine-chilling story of fact versus fiction. A writer is arrested when children in his vicinity begin dying savagely, in ways resembling his stories. The interrogation includes his brother, two unpredictable investigators, and the telling of several stories which led to the writer's arrest.

"Energizing...a blindingly bright black comedy...[what makes] the unsettling and exhilarating new play from Mr. McDonagh...so gripping as theater is how narrative art becomes the play's and the character's very life blood." -The New York Times

Liberty Science Center Presents: "Hubble"

Images from the Hubble Space Telescope are astonishingly beautiful and often mysterious. Starting March 20 when "Hubble" opens in the nation's largest IMAX Dome Theater at Liberty Science Center, your family and friends will be awed by sights formerly witnessed only by astronauts and astronomers. See stunning, large-scale images of some of the most distant features in the universe such as star "nurseries," unimaginably distant galaxies, and glowing nebulae from the deepest part of the cosmos. Audience members will be "along for the ride," observing as astronauts take five spacewalks to repair the complex space telescope.

Each child will receive a free Lorax pencil made from recycled newspaper free of charge, while supplies last.

12:00 noon, 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm: Animals From Around the Globe - Earth Day is not just for humans. Animals, plants and other organisms count on us to live "greener" every day. Meet live animals from every continent in this informative show and see why they are important to their own special ecosystems. Get free tickets at the Jennifer A. Chalsty Center entrance starting at 11:00 am. Seating is limited to 100 people per show.

Make a Pot, Plant a Seed - Kids love caring for plants they grow themselves, and they can make a pot from newspaper, fill it with soil, and plant sunflower seeds. Then set the whole thing in a paper cup and take it home to plant. The birds will thank you!

6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Tuition: $50. Class held at the Hudson County Community College Culinary Arts Institute. Click here to download the full schedule of community education classes.

All the top chefs in the world are doing it: cooking foods at extremely low temperatures - and sometimes over extremely long periods of time. Often these foods are cooked in a vacuum (known as sous vide) and have not been widely accepted in the United States due to the dangers of botulism. This course examines how, why, and what these chefs are cooking and how this relates to the principles of HACCP or Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point. Class is limited to 12 students.
