It’s a good snapshot of where the program stands at this point in the season. There’s a lot here for the Scarlet Knights to build on as spring rolls forward.

NJCU Track & Field Shines at Ursinus Springfest

The Knights made some noise on the track and in the field. They came away with personal bests, season bests, and a sense that they’re growing as a squad.

The weekend brought standout efforts from all event groups. You could really see the team’s balance as they look ahead to conference meets and, hopefully, some postseason action.

Sprint Highlights

Two sprinters set the pace with impressive PBs. The rest of the squad chipped in with points and experience:

  • Raven Orange clocked a personal-best 12.67 in the 100m prelims. She kept the momentum going in the 200m with 25.54, which stands out nationally at the Division III level.
  • Pratt Charles anchored the men’s sprints, grabbing second in the 400m with a season-best 48.26. That’s a top mark in Division III right now.
  • Thadisen Liddell opened with a personal-best 12.28 in the 100m prelims. He followed up with 25.26 in the 200m, showing off both speed and consistency.
  • Isaiah Ramirez notched personal bests in the 200m (23.09) and 400m (49.77). He’s really pushing NJCU’s mid-distance group.
  • David Dewberry hit a personal-best 23.41 in the 200m. He also placed well in the triple jump with 13.09m, showing some serious versatility.

The rest of the sprint group turned in solid efforts across different distances. There’s a clear sense of depth here as the season heats up.

Field Events Highlights

In the jumps and throws, NJCU athletes kept things competitive and showed off improved technique:

  • Tonna Ogina kept her strong season rolling with a long jump of 5.30m. She also landed ninth in the triple jump at 10.39m, proving her skills in both events.
  • Lucy Pelaez set personal bests in the hammer with 27.21m. She also posted good marks in the discus 19.09m and shot put 7.74m, helping NJCU’s scoring depth.

These field results add another layer to the team’s strengths. The coaching staff probably has a few new targets in mind as they get ready for the postseason.

Distance Runners and Middle-Distance Mix

The distance crew brought some energy too, with several athletes putting up solid times:

  • Goncalo Carvalho wrapped up the 1500m in 4:33.88. That’s a respectable mark in a tough race.
  • Danny Wilson and Peter Chrysler ran the 800m in 2:25.42 and 2:48.26, pushing through two tough laps each.

These efforts suggest the distance squad is starting to come together. There’s potential here for them to score points at bigger meets down the line.
