Parks
There are approximately 1,550 acres of parks and open space in Jersey City, including Liberty State Park, Hudson County's Lincoln Park, and over 50 major municipal parks and smaller "pocket parks." Many of Jersey City's public parks have playgrounds, ball fields, basketball courts and other recreational facilities used by local families, schools and even college-level athletic teams. All provide welcome respites from the hustle and bustle of Jersey City life. A list of Jersey City parks appears below.
Liberty State Park is a national and international tourist attraction serving as Jersey City's gateway to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
Lincoln Park is located in Jersey City's West Side District and extends from West Side Avenue to the Hackensack River. One of the largest parks in the Hudson County Park System, Lincoln Park includes 11 baseball diamonds, 6 football fields, 18 tennis courts, a swimming pool, a quarter-mile track and other sports facilities, as well as a lake used for miniature yacht races and ice skating. |
