The Waterfront

The Jersey City Waterfront District is where Jersey City meets the Hudson River... and where you can see extraordinary views of the New York City skyline that simply must be experienced first-hand. Just take a stroll on the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway. Against the stunning backdrop of Manhattan's tall buildings, this remarkable route hugs Jersey City's eastern edge as it winds through parks, piers and open space along the Hudson River and Upper New York Bay waterfront.

In the Jersey City Waterfront District, you can check into a luxury hotel and catch a PATH subway train, a ferry or even a water taxi to reach Manhattan in just a few minutes. This is where you can find fabulous restaurants among the gleaming office towers and apartment buildings that line Washington Street, and where a short walk from the PATH subway or light rail station will bring you to excellent shopping at the Newport Centre Mall (where sales tax is just 3.5%, thanks to the Jersey City Economic Development Corporation and the UEZ program).

Still, some say the Jersey City Waterfront is for the birds... two nesting peregrine falcons, that is! A pair of these beautiful (and endangered) birds of prey have raised several broods of chicks atop one of New Jersey's tallest buildings at 101 Hudson Street, Jersey City. You can catch an up-close glimpse of this unusual sight on the Jersey City Peregrine Cam.
